About Manta Point

Manta Point is a cleaning station for reef manta rays off the southwest coast of Nusa Penida. Mantas with wingspans of 3 to 5 metres visit year round to have parasites removed by smaller reef fish, often 10 to 20 or more on a dive.

The bottom is sand with large coral formations and boulders, and the mantas move between the shallows and the cleaning stations. Limestone cliffs drop straight into the sea above the site.

Besides mantas, divers see bamboo sharks, blue spotted stingrays, reef sharks, turtles and nudibranchs, and now and then a mola mola or whale shark.

The shallow cleaning stations make it possible for divers of all levels, and for snorkellers. Currents and swell vary, though, and can make conditions hard on some days. Nearby Manta Point II, or New Manta Point, is similar, with generally smaller mantas and calmer water for snorkellers.

As it was my 3rd dive ever, it was honestly incredible to see so many Manta Rays up close, we even got to see a pregnant Manta ray. Although there were quite a few divers, we were spread out, and it didn't feel crowded. Would highly recommend for anyone to do, and felt super safe & looked after with Rasmus @ Adventure Scuba Diving too.
