We are Scubalo

The dive directory for Indonesia. Built for divers, by divers.

Mission & Vision

What motivates us

We want every diver planning a trip through Indonesia to find the right site without wading through outdated blog posts and forum threads from a decade ago.

Scubalo exists to make that search feel like it should: fast, visual, and built from what actually matters on a dive, depth, visibility, conditions, and what's down there.

A good dive changes how you see the ocean. We want finding that dive to be just as easy.

Our Story

How it started

Scubalo wasn't planned in a meeting. It started with a familiar problem: sitting on a boat in Gerupuk trying to figure out where to dive next, flipping between five browser tabs, none of which agreed on depth, visibility, or whether the site was even worth the boat ride.

There was no dive-specific map that just showed what was nearby and what it was like underwater. So the idea was simple: build the map that should already exist. Pull together the sites worth diving across Southeast Asia, plot them properly, and make the information actually useful, not just a list of names on a page.

What began as a side project between client work and surf sessions slowly became something more. Every site added meant fewer tabs open before a trip. Every improvement to the map came from an actual dive, not a spec document.

It's still growing one site at a time, built by someone who'd rather be diving than reading five blog posts to plan one.
