About Coral Garden

Coral Garden in Belongas Bay, south Lombok, is a chain of small submerged pinnacles starting at about 25 metres, covered in yellow, orange and purple soft corals, whip corals, gorgonians and anemones.

Sandy patches between the pinnacles hold nudibranchs, shrimps and schools of small barracuda. Visibility averages 15 to 20 metres.

The bay is generally sheltered from big waves and strong currents, so it is a relaxed dive with plenty of small animals, a calm alternative to the big wall sites nearby. It suits photographers in particular.

Scubalo rates it advanced, mainly because the south Lombok coast is remote and conditions there can change quickly. The reef itself is gentle, but come comfortable with open water and changing current.
