About Siaba Besar

Siaba Besar, known as Turtle City, is a calm, shallow bay in central Komodo National Park with white sand and coral heads, where divers often count five to fifteen green turtles on one dive. Its easy conditions make it a classic first dive in Komodo.

Siaba Besar is a sheltered bay in the centre of Komodo National Park, and divers know it as Turtle City. Bright white sand, coral heads and patches of healthy coral run from about 5 to 18 metres, with the shallowest reef at just 4 to 6 metres.

The turtles are the reason to come. Green turtles feed and rest all over the bay, and five to fifteen on a single dive is common, sometimes more. The coral and sand hold plenty of smaller life between them.

The water is calm and the current gentle, so Siaba Besar is often a diver's first dive in Komodo, and a good one for newer divers and photographers.
