About Tatawa Kecil

Tatawa Kecil is a demanding dive site in central Komodo National Park, south of Tatawa Besar. Its rock formations, caves, swim throughs and coral fields sit in strong, sometimes very strong, currents.

Bommies rise from the reef like buildings in a city, busy with fish. The site has a shallow plateau and coral gardens of hard and soft coral.

Expect eagle rays, giant trevally, sharks, Napoleon wrasse, bumphead parrotfish, batfish, snapper, grouper, sea snakes, dogtooth and giant tuna, barracuda and moray eels, with occasional manta rays and dugongs.

Tatawa Kecil is rated expert. Drift skills and good buoyancy are essential, and it is not a snorkelling site; nearby Tatawa Besar is better for that.
