About Gamat Bay

Gamat Bay is a bay on Nusa Penida's northwest coast, between Crystal Bay and Toyapakeh. A shallow coral plateau at 6 to 8 metres suits first dives, while a wall at the end of the bay drops to 40, with turtles, rays and mola mola in season.

Gamat Bay sits on the northwest coast of Nusa Penida, between Crystal Bay and Toyapakeh, facing the strait. It has two sides to it. At the back of the bay a coral plateau lies at just 6 to 8 metres, colourful and clear, which makes it a favourite for discovery dives and newer divers.

At the end of the bay the reef turns into a wall that drops to about 40 metres, where experienced divers head when the current allows. Turtles, marble rays, moray eels and plenty of nudibranchs live around the bay, and from July to October mola mola are seen here too.

The current can range from mild to strong and change during a dive, so let your guide choose the route on the day.
