About Ceningan Wall

Ceningan Wall is a near-vertical wall on the Nusa Ceningan side of the channel to Nusa Penida, dropping to almost 200 m. A strong drift for advanced divers, with soft corals, schooling fish, cold water and mola mola in season.

Ceningan Wall runs along the foot of Nusa Ceningan's limestone cliffs, on the deep channel between Ceningan and Nusa Penida. Shops describe its position differently, but all agree it is a wall in the channel. It drops almost vertically to close to 200 m, with ledges and ridges along the way.

It is dived as a drift, often from the northern side, and about 50 minutes later you reach the southern tip. Nutrient-rich water through the strait feeds hard and soft corals, and schools of barracuda, fusiliers, triggerfish, jacks and tuna pass the drop-off. The water is usually around 22°C, colder than most sites nearby.

Scuba Junkie counts it among its best sites for meeting several mola at once, with sightings on 42% of dives from July to October 2024. The current shifts, there are downcurrents at the southern end and surge on the safety stop, so it is for advanced divers with good buoyancy.
