About Pura Ped

Pura Ped is a drift dive off Ped village on Nusa Penida's north coast, between SD Point and Sental. A short plateau drops to a steep slope with big sponges and whip corals, turtles and passing tuna.

Pura Ped lies off Ped village and its temple on Nusa Penida's north coast, between SD Point to the west and Sental to the east. Bali Aqua's shop sits right in front of it and uses it as its house reef.

The plateau is shallow and soon gives way to a slope of about 45 degrees, steeper than SD Point, with huge sponges and whip corals that show how often the current runs here. It is dived as a drift, with the entry set by the current: gentle on a high tide, livelier as the tide falls.

World Diving calls it its best site for green sea turtles. Where the current meets the open sea there is an upwelling where Bali Aqua often sees mola mola and sharks, and barracuda, tuna and trevally hunting fusiliers.
