About Pink Beach

Pink Beach, or Pantai Merah, is a sheltered reef below Komodo's famous pink sand beach: a gentle slope of staghorn, table and brain corals from about 3 to 18 metres, with turtles, nudibranchs and reef fish. Mild current makes it a good dive for beginners.

Pink Beach, Pantai Merah in Indonesian, is best known for the pink sand above the water, but the reef below is a fine, easy dive. In a sheltered bay, a gentle slope of coral, rubble and sand runs from the shallows down to about 18 metres, with deeper drops in places.

The coral is the draw: staghorn and table corals and massive brain corals, busy with reef fish. Turtles are often seen, and slow divers will find plenty of nudibranchs.

The current is usually mild and the depths shallow, so it suits Open Water divers and snorkellers alike. It is a relaxed dive for photography, and many day trips pair it with a stop at Padar.
