About Yellow Wall of Texas

The Yellow Wall of Texas is a wall in the south of Komodo National Park, near Cannibal Rock off Nusa Kode, dropping from about 5 metres. Yellow sea cucumbers, yellow and orange soft corals cover it, and the best life is in the shallows.

The Yellow Wall of Texas lies in the south of Komodo National Park, off the east coast of Nusa Kode, close to Cannibal Rock. The wall starts at about 5 metres and drops to 30 metres and beyond.

Its colour gives it its name: yellow sea cucumbers almost cover the rock, along with yellow and orange soft corals. The richest life is in the shallower part of the wall, so there is no need to go deep. It is a good wall for macro, in the same cold, plankton-rich water that makes Cannibal Rock so productive.

The water in the south is cooler, at 25°C or below, and the current can be medium to strong, so it suits advanced divers. Most divers visit on a liveaboard to the south of the park.
