About Halik

Halik is a reef on the northwest of Gili Trawangan: a steep slope from 5 to about 24 metres with gullies below, hard corals in the shallows and soft corals deeper. Turtles are always about, and with a light current it is an easy drift.

Halik lies off the northwest of Gili Trawangan, on the island's north side. The reef is a steep slope running from about 5 metres down to around 24 metres, with a series of gullies at the bottom and deeper canyons beyond. Hard corals cover the shallows and give way to soft corals as you go down.

In the shallows there are always turtles, unbothered by divers. Deeper, look for reef sharks, trevally, bumphead parrotfish and the occasional eagle ray. With a light current it is one of the Gilis' easiest drift dives, and it suits all levels.

Around the full and new moon the current can run strong, so check with your dive centre before you go.
