About Gili Mimpang

Gili Mimpang is a group of three rock islets off Candidasa in east Bali, known as Shark Point for its whitetip reef sharks. Coral slopes and walls draw strong currents, schools of fish and, from July to October, mola mola.

Gili Mimpang is a cluster of three small rock islets off Candidasa, halfway to Gili Tepekong on Bali's east coast. It is about 25 minutes by boat from Padang Bai, and divers call it Shark Point.

The dive usually starts over a rubble slope at about 12 metres on the side facing Bali, then follows a coral slope and wall where whitetip reef sharks patrol the reef. In the dry season mola mola come here to be cleaned by bannerfish, and the walls are covered in hard and soft corals.

Currents can be strong, with up and down currents around the rocks, especially near full and new moon. It is a dive for experienced divers.
