Lombok is one of the most beautiful islands in Indonesia. It’s similar in size to Bali but has a different shape. Its long coastline faces the Indian Ocean. The southern and western coastlines host most of the dive sites. These sites are scattered among Lombok’s many bays and offshore islands.
You can find stunning marine life throughout the region. The southern and western coastlines showcase breathtaking underwater landscapes. You’ll find steep drop-offs that lead to clear coral gardens. These spots offer stunning views underwater. For details on Lombok’s top diving spots, check out our guide: Lombok Scuba Diving: Top 5 Must-Visit Dive Sites.
Most dive sites in Lombok cater to beginner and intermediate divers. But the famous “Game Changer” suits only experienced divers. It's a popular site recognized for its tough conditions and strong currents.
Though Lombok is close to the busy vibe of Bali, it feels very different. Often overlooked, this works to its advantage. Lombok has unspoiled reefs and less crowded dive sites. It still holds the raw beauty that Bali’s popular spots have lost. Lombok may have less diverse marine life and fewer pelagic encounters, but it is still a gem.
Kuta Lombok and Senggigi are the main bases for divers. To reach various dive sites, some travel is necessary. This may involve a short drive or a boat journey. You’ll find everything you need to know in the breakdown of each site below.

Scuba diving in Lombok
Lombok’s reefs and walls attract currents all year. The best diving happens from April to October. During this time, visibility is high, and the waters are calm. But, stronger currents can make some dive sites less favorable.
In the off-season, currents are calm. Many dive sites become still, offering clear visibility. When manta rays and pelagics pass through, amazing encounters await.
The northern mountains peak at 3,726 m (12,224 ft) on Mount Rinjani. The south has inland hills that rise behind the beautiful bays along the coastline. In this location, most dive sites are breathtaking wonders.

Jimmy's Walls
Jimmy’s Walls is an exciting dive site located on the remote southeast coast of Lombok, just outside the bay near Jeeva Beloam Beach Camp in the Telong Elong area. The site features a shallow plateau at 8 meters deep where divers can see reef fish and lobsters among soft corals. Further out to sea are two impressive walls separated by a slope, housing crustaceans and nudibranchs. The walls are filled with corals hiding a multitude of critters and nudibranchs, with amazing coral coverage extending from the shallows down the walls. Divers can expect to see schooling bumphead parrotfish, passing eagle rays, mackerel, and trevallies. The site also features a gentle slope with its own mini wall leading up to the shallows, where resident coral catsharks can be found hiding under corals. The eastern wall is relatively unexplored as prevailing currents typically push divers reef right. Jimmy’s Walls connects to two other dive sites: Bommyland (with big seamounts covered in glassfish and lobsters) and Bikini Bottom (an underwater sandy beach great for training). The dive site is accessible to both advanced and beginner divers, offering stunning topography including deep walls and incredible soft coral coverage
