Site description

Batu Kambar sits off the remote south coast of Lombok in Ekas Bay, a rocky pinnacle rising from deep water that pulls in strong upwellings and big pelagic action. The dive begins on a sloping reef at 12 meters before dropping along a wall scattered with barrel sponges, gorgonian fans, and schools of snapper and trevally hugging the current-swept structure.

Because of its exposure to open ocean swells, Batu Kambar rewards experienced divers with sightings of eagle rays, reef sharks, and the occasional mola-mola cruising past the pinnacle during the cooler upwelling months. The site's remoteness keeps visitor numbers low, making it one of south Lombok's best-kept diving secrets.
