About Boo Windows

Boo Windows is a small reef off the Boo islands in Misool, southern Raja Ampat, where two rocks are joined underwater by a reef pierced with windows and swim-throughs. Soft corals, sea fans, wobbegongs and three species of pygmy seahorse fill a dive you can circle in one go.

Boo Windows lies off the Boo islands in Misool, in the south of Raja Ampat. From the surface you see two rocks; underwater they are joined by a reef with several large windows, of which divers can swim through the two biggest. It is not a big site, and you can circle the whole of it in one dive.

The walls are covered in soft corals and gorgonian sea fans, with schools of snappers and fusiliers around them. Look under the big table corals for wobbegong sharks, along the fans for three species of pygmy seahorse, and in the shallows for the epaulette or walking shark. Turtles are common.

The southwest face is steep and exposed to the current, which brings patrolling reef sharks, so it suits divers with some experience.
