About Malibu Point

Malibu Point is a remote drop-off on Nusa Penida's east coast, from 5 to 40 m, over a plateau of staghorn coral. Strong, unpredictable currents bring schools of jacks and trevally, eagle rays and mola mola in season.

Malibu Point is on the remote east coast of Nusa Penida, near Karang Sari. It is a long boat ride, so shops add a fuel surcharge, and some only go with a full boat of experienced divers.

A plateau covered in staghorn coral leads to a drop-off with coral colonies along its edge, big bommies and slopes. Visibility is often very good, with large schools of fusiliers, jacks and trevally, and eagle rays and reef sharks. Scuba Junkie looks for thresher sharks here below 20 m.

The currents are strong and can push divers up or down without warning, and thermoclines are common deeper down. Bali Aqua only brings divers it already knows, and French Kiss Divers asks for 30 logged dives.
