About Crystal Rock

Crystal Rock is a pinnacle and seamount in the north of Komodo National Park, about 300 metres from Castle Rock. It is known for clear water and a little less current than its neighbour, though the current is still strong.

Divers usually descend quickly with the current to about 20 to 25 metres and hold onto rock to watch the action. Soft corals, sponges and giant sea fans cover the pinnacle.

Expect white tip, black tip and grey reef sharks, barracuda, giant trevally, tuna, eagle rays and Napoleon wrasse, with pygmy seahorses and nudibranchs on the fans. Dolphins pass at times.

The current changes the dive from one day to the next, so follow your guide closely; reef hooks help save energy. Visibility is usually excellent, especially in the dry season.
