About Turtle Heaven

Turtle Heaven, also called Turtle City or Turtle Point, is a sloping reef and pinnacle off the east side of Gili Meno where divers often count ten or more green and hawksbill turtles on one dive. A shallow entry suits every level.

Turtle Heaven lies off the east side of Gili Meno, a few minutes by boat from Gili Trawangan, and also goes by Turtle City or Turtle Point. A shallow entry leads onto a slope that runs out to a coral-covered pinnacle, from about 9 down to 30 metres.

The name is no exaggeration. Green and hawksbill turtles rest on the bottom and rise to breathe, and ten or more on a single dive is common. Clownfish, large lionfish, batfish and bluefin trevally live on the reef, with octopus, mantis shrimps and nudibranchs for those who look closely and reef sharks on the deeper edges.

With its shallow start and the option to go deeper towards the pinnacle, it suits beginners and experienced divers alike, and snorkellers can watch the turtles from the surface.
