About Sachiko's Point

Sachiko's Point, also called Lucky Point, is a drift dive on the northeast corner of Bunaken Island: a coral-covered drop-off from under 5 metres into the deep, where 301 fish species have been recorded and whitetip sharks, turtles and eagle rays pass.

Sachiko's Point sits on the northeast corner of Bunaken Island, in Bunaken National Park, and some guides call it Lucky Point. The reef begins in less than 5 metres of water and falls away as a coral-encrusted slope and wall, with overhangs and wire corals, well past recreational depths. It is dived as a drift along the wall.

It is one of the richest sites in the park: 301 fish species have been recorded here. Look for Napoleon wrasse, batfish, moray eels, jacks and schools of smaller fish along the wall, green turtles resting on ledges, whitetip reef sharks under the overhangs, and spotted eagle rays and other pelagics passing in the blue.

The current here can be strong, so it suits experienced divers who are comfortable drifting along a wall.
