About Angel's Window

Angel's Window is a twin-peaked rock off the north coast of Lembeh Island, rising to a few metres below the surface, with a swim-through at about 25 metres. Its gorgonians hold pygmy seahorses, four species of them, and it is dived only when the northern surge is calm.

Angel's Window is a large rock with two peaks off the north coast of Lembeh Island, one of the strait's few reef dives in clearer water. The pinnacle rises to within a few metres of the surface and drops away on all sides, covered in crinoids, soft corals, anthias and damselfish. At about 25 metres a large swim-through cuts through the rock: the window that gives the site its name.

It is the place in Lembeh for pygmy seahorses. Four species live here, including Bargibant's pygmy seahorse in the Muricella gorgonians and the yellow Denise's pygmy seahorse on the outer fans, along with stonefish camouflaged on the rock.

The site faces open water to the north, and swell can push surge deep down the rock, so it is dived only on calm days. Because the best of it sits around 25 metres, Nitrox gives you more time at the window.
