About Eel Garden

Eel Garden is a wall on the western edge of Menjangan Island in West Bali National Park, ending in a sandy channel full of garden eels. Its passing current feeds healthy corals, schools of fish, reef sharks and trevally.

Eel Garden is on the westernmost edge of Menjangan Island, in West Bali National Park, about 30 minutes by boat from Pemuteran. Shops count it among Menjangan's best dives, with some of the island's healthiest and most varied corals.

The wall drops to about 40 metres, covered in gorgonian fans where pygmy seahorses hide, and ends in a sandy channel at around 20 metres home to a large colony of garden eels. Octopuses live in the crevices.

The passing current brings schools of fish: whitetip and blacktip reef sharks, giant and bluefin trevally, dogtooth tuna, barracuda and spotted eagle rays. Because of that current it suits experienced divers and snorkellers.
