Site description

Makasar Reef, commonly known as Manta Point, is the longest and one of the most famous dive sites within Komodo National Park. Stretching over 2.5 kilometers, this shallow reef features a mostly flat bottom with areas of gently sloping coral formations and sandy patches. It is a renowned cleaning station for manta rays, which can be spotted here year-round, often in groups ranging from 3 up to 30 or more.

The site offers a relatively easy drift dive with medium currents, making it suitable for beginner to advanced divers. Besides mantas, you might encounter turtles, reef sharks, eagle rays, giant trevallies, and a variety of tropical reef fish.

Makasar Reef is situated between Tatawa Besar Island and Komodo Island, providing beautiful scenery both above and below water. Its spectacular marine life and frequent manta encounters make it a must-visit destination for divers and snorkelers visiting Komodo
