Site Description

Crystal Rock is one of the most stunning and popular dive sites in the northern part of Komodo National Park, located just about 300 meters from the famous Castle Rock. Known for its crystal-clear visibility and diverse marine life, it offers a slightly less challenging dive compared to its neighbor but still has strong currents that require experience. Diving Crystal Rock is a thrilling experience marked by descending quickly with the current to about 20-25 meters where you can hold onto rocks to observe large pelagics and vibrant reef life. The site has a pinnacle and seamount covered in soft corals, sponges, and giant sea fans, creating beautiful underwater scenery. Divers can expect to see reef sharks (white-tip, black-tip, grey), barracudas, giant trevallies, tuna, eagle rays, napoleon wrasses, pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, and many colorful reef fish. The dive often involves following guides carefully due to current intensity and using reef hooks to conserve energy. The dive can feel like a different experience every time depending on the currents and conditions, making repeat dives rewarding. Visibility is typically excellent, especially during the dry season when calm seas dominate.
