Every region has a site that alters the perception of what is possible underwater; for Scubalo, that site is Lombok's Game Changer. We provide a tactical overview of this challenging, rewarding dive and the seasonality required for the best experience.

Dive Site Overview

Game Changer is typically a deep drift dive characterized by strong, fluctuating currents, suitable only for Advanced Open Water certification or higher. Typical depths range from 20 to 40 meters. Visibility averages 20 meters but can extend beyond 30 meters during peak dry season conditions.

Marine Life

The convergence of currents at Game Changer draws significant pelagic activity, making it a critical site for large animal encounters.

  • Oceanic Manta Rays (seasonal aggregation)

  • Resident Pods of Spinner Dolphins

  • White-tip Reef Sharks

  • Schools of Barracuda and Jacks

  • Wahoo and large Tuna

Best Time to Dive

To maximize safety and enjoyment, Game Changer is optimally dived during the regional dry season, spanning April through October. This window offers reduced surface chop, minimal rainfall runoff, and consistently higher water clarity. Conditions outside this period, particularly December to February, often present adverse current patterns and significantly lower visibility.
